This cycle will focus on regional programs designed to tackle the unique financial and climate challenges in target geographies: Africa – Mitigation, Africa – Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, Asia-Pacific – Mitigation, Brazil – Adaptation/Mitigation, India – Adaptation/Mitigation, Latin America and the Caribbean – Adaptation, Latin America and the Caribbean – Mitigation, The Philippines – Adaptation.
The Lab seeks innovative finance instruments that address the unique financial and climate challenges of emerging markets. Applications are accepted through a two-phase process, starting with preliminary submissions on the Lab website by 11:59 PM PST on November 9, 2025. Applicants whose ideas align closely with the Lab’s programs will be invited in early December to submit full applications.
Selected ideas receive a comprehensive support package that includes expert guidance, technical assistance, funder mapping, networking opportunities, and pilot implementation support. These resources are designed to help innovative climate finance solutions reach practical implementation more effectively and efficiently.
After the acceleration cycle, a subset of vehicles may receive financial support through the Lab’s Pre-Seed Capital Facility, offering conditional grants of up to USD 250,000 to fast-track implementation. This financial assistance is aimed at accelerating high-potential climate finance innovations and scaling their impact.
To guide applicants through the process, the Lab is hosting informational webinars in multiple languages covering the application process, selection criteria, and program details. These sessions are scheduled on October 15, 2025, for English, Portuguese, and Spanish audiences across different regions.
The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the United Nations Development Programme, and the governments of Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom, with Climate Policy Initiative serving as Secretariat and analytical provider. The Lab’s mission is to identify, develop, and launch innovative finance instruments that can mobilize billions in private investment toward climate action and sustainable development.
