Description

The United Nations Academic Impact and MCN proudly present the Millennium Fellowship.  The program convenes, challenges, and celebrates bold undergraduate students advancing the Sustainable Development Goals on campus and in communities.  As a Millennium Fellow, you will hone your skills, take concrete action, and earn recognition. There is no cost for selected students.

Running from August to November 2026, the Millennium Fellowship helps students elevate their leadership, strengthen their social impact projects, and join a global network of purpose-driven young leaders.

What Is the Millennium Fellowship?

The Millennium Fellowship is a highly competitive, campus-based leadership program designed for undergraduate students dedicated to making a difference. During the fellowship, students enhance their skills, execute meaningful projects, and collaborate with peers who share a commitment to positive change.

What Fellows Receive

The program provides all selected Fellows with:

  • Training: Leadership development, project management, and SDG-aligned learning.

  • Connections: Access to a global community of young changemakers across universities worldwide.

  • Recognition: Official certification of completion from UNAI and MCN.

⚠ Important: The Millennium Fellowship is completely free.

There are no fees for students or participating universities.

Eligibility Criteria

Individual Eligibility

To apply for the Millennium Fellowship Class of 2026, students must:

  • Be at least 18 years old by the start of the program

  • Be an enrolled undergraduate student for the entire program duration (August–November 2026)

  • Have a demonstrated interest in social impact, community development, or advancing the SDGs

Campus Eligibility

For a campus to participate:

  • minimum of 8 Millennium Fellows must be selected from that institution

  • Competitive campuses typically have 15–20+ applicants

  • Universities are encouraged to promote the opportunity widely to increase overall selection rates

  • The selection process includes two competitive rounds:

    Round 1: Initial Application

    Round 1 allows the review team to learn about your motivation and passion for social impact.

    • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis

    • The next Priority Deadline is November 30

    • Strong early applications improve your chances of progressing to Round 2

The Millennium Fellowship

Oranisation Overview

The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program that happens on your campus. The United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are here to elevate your leadership.
CONVENE

As part of a cohort of 8-20+ Millennium Fellows on your campus, convene to learn from and challenge each other. Millennium Fellows convene at least 8 times during the program.

 
CHALLENGE

Develop a plan of action for your sessions together. Meet to exchange best practices. And you could think bigger: organizing a campus-wide sustainability initiative or more.

 
 
 
CELEBRATE

When your Fellowship Campus meets the goals you made for yourselves and completed the Fellowship graduation requirements, you will earn a certificate of recognition from United Nations Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Network.
