Ensuring that electrical and instrumentation equipment in his/her allocated shop is efficiently well
maintained at optimum cost and in compliance with the OHS and Environment regulations.
Roles and responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
ï‚· Carryout robust trouble shooting of Electrical and instrumentation failures in the Plant, repair with high
quality.
ï‚· Report anomalies observed on the equipment during maintenance or inspection. Contributes to the
analysis of equipment electrical failures & problems, recommending best corrective actions.
ï‚· Performs trial of equipment after every maintenance activity.
ï‚· Ensure timely readiness to efficiently tackle emergencies or urgent breakdowns as programmed with
supervisors.
ï‚· Execute weekly work orders according to preventive maintenance plans or scheduled corrective
maintenance actions as assigned by supervisor.
ï‚· Participate in development of execution Job Plans for all maintenance activities He/She is involved in.
ï‚· Proposes & executes cost reduction initiatives and in extension of electrical life of the plant equipment.
ï‚· Cooperate with shift leaders in the execution of scheduled maintenance actions
Management – Planning & Cost control
Support the Electrical supervisor in the control of the maintenance budget, ensuring planning and follow-
up on key tasks & costs through executing effective solutions to achieve budget and to meet or exceed
targets for the assigned equipment.
Standards
Ensure compliance with regulations, company goals, Rules, local permits, policies and procedures; optimize
the internal processes and structures.
OH&S and Environment
Ensure compliance with OH&S and environment policies and procedures to ensure zero harm
Educational Requirements
ï‚· Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education / experience
 3-5 years’ experience dealing with production or maintenance.
ï‚· Experience in heavy industry experience preferred
ï‚· Experience applying FMEA techniques and knowledge of basic problem-solving tools
Other requirements:
ï‚· Knowledge of cement manufacturing process.
ï‚· Experience in pole climbing is an added advantage
ï‚· Strong knowledge of electrical equipment and instrumentation systems.
ï‚· Knowledge of control loops and PLC theory
ï‚· Strong troubleshooting, analysis and problem-solving skills.
ï‚· Knowledge of material transport equipment
ï‚· Knowledge of operating principles of Cement Plant equipment; Crushers, Vertical roller mill, Ball
mills, Rotary Kiln, Bag Filters, Conditioning towers & Packing machines, Stackers, Reclaimer
