PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide academic and professional leadership and knowledge to Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, Assistant Lecturers and students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and to promote knowledge of his/her subject through original work.
KEY FUNCTIONS
1. To provide academic leadership and guidance in the department.
2. To identify and supervise the conduct of research studies by the undergraduate and postgraduate students.
3. To prepare and deliver lectures to students.
4. To organize and conduct seminars and tutorials.
5. To set tests and examinations as well as mark and grade scripts.
6. To advise students on their academic performance.
7. To lead curriculum review.
8. To coach and mentor academic staff in the department.
KEY OUT PUTS
1) Academic leadership and guidance in the department provided.
2) Research studies by the undergraduate and postgraduate students supervised.
3) Lectures prepared and delivered to students.
4) Seminars and tutorials conducted.
5) Tests and examinations set, marked and graded.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
a) Must have a PhD in either Textile or Leather Technology from a recognized awarding university/institution.
b) Must be with at least eight (8) years of teaching/research experience, three of which must have been served at the level of Senior Lecturer in a recognized university/institution.
c) Must have published at least three (3) articles in reputable peer reviewed journals or three (3) book chapters or one (1) book with ISBN Number since the last promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer.
d) Must be principal or first author of at least two (2) articles in (c) above.
e) Must be one of the first five co-authors for the other article in (c) above.
f) The three (3) journal articles or book chapters or the book(s) presented for consideration shall be vetted.
g) Must submit a Report of anti-plagiarism and credibility of the publishers duly signed by the Kyambogo University Librarian and the applicant.
h) Publications submitted must not be more than five years old at the time of application.
i) Should have supervised at least two (2) Graduate Students to completion since last promotion/appointment to the position of Senior Lecturer.
j) Should have contributed to community service.
k) Age Limit: Not above 55 years old at the time of application.
