The Hatchery Hardware Team Lead oversees and coordinates all hatchery hardware operations, including pond preparation, and net management, machinery, and storage. The role ensures equipment uptime, operational efficiency, compliance with safety and biosecurity standards, and readiness to support hatchery production targets.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and Oversight
- Develop and implement operational plans for hatchery hardware functions.
- Allocate resources and schedule activities to meet production timelines.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure ponds, nets, and machinery are functional and well-maintained.
- Team Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise and mentor Hardware Supervisors and their respective teams.
- Coordinate workload distribution and monitor task execution and quality.
- Build team capacity through continuous training, performance feedback, and skills development.
- Health, Safety, and Biosecurity
- Enforce adherence to safety, environmental, and biosecurity protocols.
- Identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement preventive or corrective actions.
- Ensure consistent use of PPE and compliance with company safety and environmental standards.
- Reporting and Communication
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on hardware performance, maintenance, and incidents.
- Communicate operational priorities and feedback to Supervisors and management.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Health departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Other Duties
- Oversee effective stock and inventory management in coordination with Supervisors.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the line manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aquaculture hardware, production operations, or related field.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of hatchery systems, equipment maintenance, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication, planning, organizational, and reporting skills.
