Description

A: Eligibility is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old, and residing in Africa, provided their projects significantly benefit African communities. We welcome applications from innovators, entrepreneurs, individuals, and changemakers who focus on sustainable development, technological innovation, cultural preservation, social entrepreneurship, or educational advancement.

A key criterion to participate in the Boma Prize for Africa is the Boma Consult Entrepreneurial Certification Program (BEP) or the Boma Entrepreneurship Masterclass (BEM). Only applicants with a BEP or BEM certificate will be considered for the Boma Prize for Africa competition.

PITCH VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Video Requirements:

  • Video Title – [Your Full Name] – E.g: (Tom Jerry- The Boma Prize for Africa Submission.
  • Record – A two-minute elevator pitch of your business, social impact solution or innovative idea.
  • Outline for the elevator pitch video – 1. State your full name, country of origin, and the name of your project or idea. 2. Clearly describe your business, social impact solutions, or innovative ideas. 3. Explain the potential impact of your project on local communities, the environment, or the African continent as a whole.
  • Video Format & Resolution – MP4 or MOV, 720p minimum.
  • Audibility – Face the Camera, be audible, and avoid background noise while making sure that the video is shot in landscape, good lighting and clear audio.
  • Demonstration – Use visual aids or demonstrations if they help explain your idea better.
  • Outfit – Ensure to wear a corporate outfit in your video.

NOTE: Videos exceeding the 2-minute limit or not adhering to the format and content guidelines will be disqualified.

Google Drive Submission: 

  • Prepare Your Video: Ensure your pitch video meets all guidelines—no longer than 2 minutes, clearly articulates the impact of your project, and showcases your innovation.

  • Upload to Google Drive: Save your video to Google Drive. Ensure that the sharing settings allow anyone with the link to view it.

  • Submit Your Link: BPFA 2025 Video Entries

Social Media Sharing:

  • Share Publicly: Post your video on your preferred social media platforms.

  • Tag Us: Use our official handle and designated hashtags (Instagram- bomaprizeorg, #bomaprizeforafrica2025, #bomaprizecontestant) when you share your video. This increases your visibility and engages the wider community with your innovative idea.

  • Interact and Engage: Encourage friends, family, and followers to view, like, and share your video. This not only spreads your idea but also garners public support and interest.

The Boma Prize

Entrepreneurs,and Individuals access adequate funding, business resources, and networks.

Welcome to the second edition of the Boma Prize competition to ensure the growth and development of Africa. In this second edition, we will be dealing with the challenges of growing Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) in Africa.

The Boma Prize for Africa is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, registered in the state of Maryland U.S.A, with projects in the DMV area and across the African Continent. The initiative aims to promote business education, youth empowerment, and SME growth for African immigrants in the diaspora, as well as Africans across the African continent. The Boma Prize provides a platform for small business owners, startups, and young entrepreneurs to bring their dreams to fruition through in-person pitch contest.
