Deadline:

Description

The contest is open to individuals aged 18 to 35 who are nationals of IAEA Member States. Participants must submit their entries individually; group submissions are not permitted.

What is the theme of the contest?

Participants are invited to create an original infographic that illustrates key concepts, tools, or techniques from any of the selected IAEA EPR publications. The infographic should focus on making complex EPR concepts accessible and understandable to a broader audience, or tailored to a specific audience, if preferred.

What are the submission requirements?

Submissions must include:

  • Infographic: An original infographic that presents technical information clearly and accurately, with all text in English.
  • Form: The participants must complete an online form with their full name, date of birth, nationality, country of residence, email address, as well as to select the particular IAEA EPR publication and intended audience among the provided list

Instructions for the second phase will be provided only to shortlisted participants.

Can I use AI or specific design software to create my infographic?

Participants are free to use any design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Inkscape, Figma, etc.) to create their infographic. There are no restrictions on the software used, as long as the final submission meets the format and resolution requirements (JPEG, PNG, or PDF, high quality, unblurry).

AI tools may be used to assist with design inspiration (e.g. layout suggestions, colour palettes), but they must not be used to generate the infographic or its content. Infographics that are fully AI-generated or contain AI-generated text or data will be disqualified.

If you use AI-assisted elements, you must explicitly disclose:

  • Which elements were created with AI assistance
  • Which AI tools were used
  • How AI was incorporated into your work

Failure to disclose AI use will result in disqualification.

What are the evaluation criteria?

Entries will be evaluated based on:

  • Visual clarity and design quality.
  • Originality and creativity
  • Technical accuracy
  • Overall impact and effectiveness in communicating EPR concepts.

When will the results be announced?

  • First week of September 2025: Shortlisted participants will be notified and invited to submit a 5-minute video.
  • First week of October 2025: Winners will be notified. They will be required to provide additional documents, including a copy of the picture page of a valid passport and the editable design file of the infographic. Failure to respond within 10 days will result in loss of the right to claim the prize.

Who retains the rights to the submitted infographics?

If selected as a finalist, the participant agrees to assign to the IAEA all copyright in and to the infographic, including the right to publish, transmit, sell, distribute, modify, create derivative works, and otherwise use the drawing in electronic and print versions throughout the world, in all languages and media.

How will personal data be handled?

All personal data will be treated in accordance with the IAEA’s Personal Data Privacy Policy. Data collected will be used solely for the purpose of notifying and acknowledging the winners and organizing travel arrangements. Thereafter, the data will be deleted.

Oranisation Overview

The IAEA was created in 1957 in response to the deep fears and expectations generated by the discoveries and diverse uses of nuclear technology. The Agency’s genesis was U.S. President Eisenhower’s “Atoms for Peace” address to the General Assembly of the United Nations on 8 December 1953.

The U.S. Ratification of the Statute by President Eisenhower, 29 July 1957, marks the official birth of the International Atomic Energy Agency. In the press conference following the signing ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, D.C., President Eisenhower evoked his address to the UN General Assembly in December 1953, at which he had proposed to establish the IAEA.
