A Legacy of Excellence
Since its inception, the Merck Innovation Cup has grown into one of the world’s most respected innovation development programs, earning international recognition through Edison Awards, Stevie Awards, and the Innovationspreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft. Its success lies in its commitment to nurturing ideas and empowering young scientists to think beyond the laboratory — to explore the intersection of science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The program has become a launchpad for bold ideas that align with Merck’s mission to advance science and technology for a better tomorrow. Participants don’t just compete; they join a community of thinkers united by curiosity, creativity, and a passion for solving complex global challenges.
Seize the Opportunity
For aspiring innovators, the Merck Innovation Cup 2026 offers more than a chance to win — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn, connect, and contribute to meaningful change. As Ulrich Betz, Senior Vice President of Innovation and founder of the Cup, notes, “Learning, innovating, networking, having fun, and winning — the Innovation Cup is the chance for graduate students to make a difference.”
Applications are open until 31 January 2026. Those selected will join a dynamic community of scientists, entrepreneurs, and visionaries for an unforgettable week of collaboration and discovery.
