Description

United for Global Mental Health (UGMH) is pleased to announce the launch of a Request for Proposals (RFP) aimed at supporting national advocacy and policy initiatives that integrate climate change and mental health. This opportunity is designed to strengthen national-level work in six priority regions: Brazil, India, Ethiopia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and the Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Why This RFP Matters

Climate change is increasingly recognized as a driver of mental health challenges. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, displacement, and loss of livelihoods contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma. By integrating mental health into climate policies, this RFP seeks to:

  • Ensure holistic national responses to climate change.
  • Empower communities to build resilience and adaptive capacity.
  • Strengthen advocacy that connects environmental sustainability with human well-being.
  • Promote equity and inclusion, ensuring that vulnerable populations—especially women, youth, and marginalized groups—are represented in policy dialogues.

Objective of the RFP

The primary goal of this initiative is to:

    • Support six national organisations in embedding mental health considerations within climate change policies.
    • Ensure that climate policies also reflect the mental health impacts of climate change, creating a two-way integration.
    • Promote national ownership of the project by prioritizing local civil society organisations (CSOs).
    • Strengthen advocacy efforts that highlight the intersection of climate resilience and mental well-being.
