Description

Research-Focused Learning Environment

Students accepted into the programme will engage in rigorous academic and research training under the supervision of experienced researchers within RUBi. The curriculum focuses heavily on structural bioinformatics, allowing students to explore computational approaches used in analysing biological molecules, protein structures, genomic data, and molecular interactions.

The programme is expected to appeal to ambitious graduates seeking specialised postgraduate training that bridges life sciences and computational technologies.

Fellowship Guidance Available for Successful Candidates

While the MSc programme does not directly provide scholarships or fellowships, selected applicants will receive support and guidance in preparing fellowship applications. These include opportunities to apply for funding through:

  • The National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF)
  • The Rhodes University Postgraduate Fellowship

The university noted that fellowship application priority will be given to South African students. However, international applicants with strong academic records are also encouraged to apply for the MSc programme.

Application Requirements

Prospective students interested in joining the 2027 cohort must compile the following documents into a single PDF file:

  • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • A motivation letter
  • Academic transcripts
  • Names and contact details of two referees

Applications must be submitted via email to Mrs Stacey Glenister at:
