The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.
The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC in collaboration with the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), in a bid to develop nation-wide expertise in Uganda’s Oil and Gas Sector to enable national participation, invites applications for persons interested to develop their career in welding to apply for fully funded 6G Coded Welding training and certification in accordance with ASME IX standard.
NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS: Twenty (20)
NATURE OF TRAINING: Full Time
INSTITUTE OF TRAINING: Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK)
DURATION OF THE TRAINING: Eight (8) Weeks
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA – IVQ (Welding, Fabrication & Pipework)
- Ugandans 18 years and above originating from all districts of Uganda.
- Holders of a National Vocational and Technical Crafts certificate in Welding and Metal fabrication and 3G coded welding certificate certified by recognized entities.
- Have basic English reading and writing skills, good mathematical and physics skills (basic knowledge in electricity)
- Have good eyesight and be physically and medically fit.
- Preference will be given to applicants previously trained in welding who have proof of 3G
Coded Welding Certification. - Participants must commit to staying at the training center for the whole duration of the
course. - Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Applicant should present evidence that he/she is a Ugandan.
