Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Australia is offering a one-time $2,000 ECU Travel Bursary to support eligible students who planned to study in the United States but are now enrolling at ECU. This opportunity is open to students starting a full ECU degree program in Semester 2, 2025 or Semester 1, 2026.

Benefits

The ECU Travel Bursary 2025–2026 is a financial support program valued at AUD $2,000, aimed at new international students who:

  1. Originally planned to study in the U.S.
  2. Were impacted by student visa processing delays
  3. Choose to commence a full-time degree at ECU in Australia

The bursary helps cover travel and relocation expenses and is paid after the census date of the student’s first semester.

Eligible Nationalities

Open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  1. Be an international student (not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident)
  2. Hold a valid Subclass 500 International Student Visa
  3. Be commencing a Bachelor, Master (Coursework or Research), or PhD for the first time in Semester 2, 2025 or Semester 1, 2026
  4. Be studying on-campus at ECU (Joondalup, Mount Lawley, or ECU City campus)
  5. Not be receiving any government scholarship or industry sponsorship
  6. Provide evidence of either:

a- A submitted application to a U.S. institution, or

b- An offer letter from a U.S. university

Application Procedure

There is no separate application process for this bursary. Students should:

  1. Apply for admission to a full ECU degree program
  2. Provide required documentation demonstrating intention to study in the U.S.
  3. Enroll and pay tuition by ECU’s deadline
  4. Remain eligible and enrolled full-time beyond the census date

All decisions are made at ECU’s sole discretion.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The student must remain enrolled full-time (minimum 60 credit points per semester)
  2. Must stay enrolled post-census date of the first semester
  3. The $2,000 payment will be deposited to a nominated Australian bank account
  4. Students who withdraw, become ineligible, or fail to meet conditions may need to repay the bursary
  5. Cannot be transferred to other universities, campuses, or courses
  6. No double funding – the bursary is not available to students receiving any other ECU scholarships or bursaries
